Well I may have finally won my battle with Time Warner. Maybe. UVerse is finally in my area (or so they say, even though they said they were a couple months ago). I have an install scheduled for 2 weeks from now. Sure it has it’s problems… the HD channels aren’t as plentiful as Dish or DTV and are more compressed than some other providers. Sure you can’t currently have 2 HD streams (which kinda really sucks, but it’s on the block for changing within the year). Sure their broadband is slower than cable and probably always will be. Sure the entire company could fail.
Still, I think the positives outweigh. You can record up to 4 channels (4 SD or 1HD/3SD) at a time. Time Warner only allows 2 (2HD, 2SD, 1HD/1SD). You get more HD content than Time Warner. You get the NFL Network AND Big10 Network (so much for only 1 Badger game being broadcast there, I count 3 so far). You get all your SD channels in digital (Time Warner is still rockin analogue) . You pay a lot less. Time Warner charges me $110 for essentially the same service. I got my favorite holiday notice from them saying my service is going up by over $30/month as of next year. $30!!! They didn’t even give me extra content for my money.
So hopefully it all goes well…

Please keep us posted on how the install goes and how the service performs. AT&T just launched U-Verse here in Austin, TX, and as soon as they switch it on in my neighborhood I’m giving TWC the heave-ho.
Well I guess there is a house out there with my exact same address, minus the apartment number. I don’t believe it, but ATT claims there is. So in their system, my install was routed for a different address (on all the confirmation letters that they’ve mailed me, the apartment number was on there). Either way, the tech was out for several hours trying to figure out what was going on before realizing that. Long story short, no install. They wanted to reschedule me for several weeks later, I wanted it to happen the next day. Managed to compromise and get in for this coming Sunday (the 2nd). Let’s hope it happens… I’m already not thrilled with the customer service.
Yo Jay, it’s Forrest! I randomly thought about you today when I was thinking about the old 3000GT. I’m positive that it is now out of commission, but I was curious if you ever sold it to someone else or drove it til it would go anymore. If you have any pics of the car I would love to have copies because my pics were lost a long time ago.
Anyway, just wanted to holler man. Hope you’re doing well.
Forrest!
