Well, we are going to be hitting our 3rd television provider this year. It looks like DirectTV is going to be the winner. UVerse hasn’t been able to fix our random DVR problems and we have lost interest with giving them extra chances. When we move in a month, the plan should be t make the switch at that time. I am not excited about having to get settled in with another provider, but I am excited about more HD channels and getting rid of ATT.
Anyway, the television saga continues.

AT&T announced that since they ate BellSouth they’re getting rid of BellSouth Americast cable and replacing it with Dish network. This leaves Comcast as my only choice for cable.
Since I have no desire for a Dish whatsoever I find myself also about to switch providers. I love corporate consolidation, it’s soooooo good for the consumers.
Our search is over.
Last night, ordered a Tivo HD DVR. The “new” one has a tuner built in, also got a Philips indoor amplified antenna (we’re within 5 miles of pretty much every channel, so we should get everything local – might investigate a larger unit to get Chicago stations down the road). Prepaid for 1yr of Tivo service and we’re all set.
Won’t get to see the Brewers on TV, which stinks. But we still get all the HD locals and that’s a decent chunk of what we watch anyway.
Here’s to spending more time away from the TV.
