After another stunning loss today, it is clear what the Packers must do. Lose enough games to secure Peterson in the draft. He’s easily the best running back out there and likely the biggest impact player on the board (so far). Afterall, the Packers have a QB, their wideout crop is not so bad as long as Koren Robinson can stay out of jail and the offensive line simply needs experience. Defensive players are rarely worth high picks anyway. The Packers desperately need help in the running game. The line is making some holes, they just don’t have a guy who can hit them. Morency looked like the guy (for the time being at least), until he fumbled twice in 6 carries (although I think they called the 2nd one down by contact).
Look at it this way, so far, as a team, the Packers have 446 yards on 124 carries with 1TD through 5 games (4 fumbles too). As an individual, Peterson has 752 yards on 142 carries with 8 TDs and no fumble… also through 5 games. Sure you can argue that the level of competition in college football can vary as much as Tawny Kitaen’s moods… but the Lions and Saints aren’t exactly top level opponents either.
So there it is Packer fans… your Super Bowl this year won’t be in January… it’s all about April, baby!
